Dear Colleagues

II would like to share some of the memorable and learning events that happened in last four months in PT Elegant.

Internal Quality Audit for the QII
Internal audit of all IQMM Elements and WCM KMFA's were conducted to review progress made by each element. I urge all element champions and sub-committee leaders to take necessary action for observations as reported in the Audit findings.

Certified Examiner for IMC RBNQA
We nominated Mr.T.N.Thanikachalam for the Certified Examiner course in order to have a better understanding of IMC RBNQA criteria. With this, he is now better equipped to facilitate self assessment against the Criteria 2004 to identify the gaps and take steps accordingly .

Aditya Awards 2004
We have sent nominations for Aditya Awards 2004. I would like to thank all our executives, who have put in their efforts for sending the applications.
WCM Assessor Workshop
Elegant hosted Assessment Training Workshop conducted by CWCM for Chairman's WCM Awards 2004. Six of our executives participated in the programme and came out with lots of learning. These were then shared with our sub-committee leaders. Mr.J.Sridharan Head-CWCM visited our important suppliers/customers and provided us with valuable inputs for making improvements.

WCM Application - Platinum Level:
Application report for Chairman's WCM Awards has been sent to CWCM. The Sub-committee leaders now have to put their best efforts with the support of Trained WCM assessors to bridge the gaps identified during Application writing and subsequent audits. Our Team of Trained assessors carried out Internal Assessment for examining the compliance in line with Platinum Roadmap and review the progress against suggested improvements.

Review of Six Sigma Projects
Mr.B.N.Jha from CWCM visited PTE in July for guiding our Teams and reviewing their six sigma projects. These projects were presented before the Team from CWCM and got appreciation for the efforts put in by the champions and Black Belt Trainees. I request all the champions and Black belt Trainees to take necessary actions for areas of improvements as suggested during the presentation.

OHSAS 18001 & ISO 14001
Surveillance audit under Safety and Environment systems were conducted by BVQI successfully in July.

International Quality Maturity Model (IQMM)
During last visit of Mr.Anshuman Tiwari from Qimpro Consultants, it has been decided to invite the auditor team for final assessment for IQMM Level 7+ in end September. Though almost all initiatives have been implemented already, I request all the element champions to review the areas for improvements again as per the latest Assessment.

Market Scenario
Compared to first quarter 2004, Market remained at same state during the second quarter of 2004 except for improved demand for TR Yarns.

Events-a-head
• IQMM Final Assessment for Level 7+ in September
• WCM Assessment for Platinum level in October

Wishing you all good luck for both the above events .I am confident that efforts of our Teams will yield good results in the forthcoming Quality Assessments by the external bodies.
